Good For Kinsler!(or how I like to pronounce It,Kinzla!)

I feel like we should be hearing more about him. I've always liked him ,since Texas. He never drove In 100 runs in a season but that's not what you ask for from a second baseman. He was a 20/20 guy In 2007 and 30/30 twice In 2009 and 2011.His season averages look like this- 30.4 Doubles/17.7 HR's/66.6 RBI/.277 AVG/.344 OBP.While he never won any Gold Gloves ,he wasn't a horrible fielder at all. He's no Ryne Sandberg ,and barring a lights out next couple of years,he's not headed to the HOF.Still and all he's a nice little player and is having a solid season. So,good for Kinzla!

The Can Stash!

I've decided to just snap pics of my Canseco's without pulling them out of the protective sheets. It's less  of a pain in the ass that way.BTW- Anybody here think Canseco will ever make It back into MLB  as a coach, commentator ,etc.  ?It seems like they're slowly letting the steroid guys back in.

Global Warming,Suarez Cooling

At the time of this card purchase,Suarez was batting well over .300 and was knocking the cover off the ball.By the time the card arrived In the mail ,Suarez  was down to a .238 batting average and has been stuck at 6 home runs for the past 12 games or so.Katie Perry syndrome?IDK,you make the call.

Random Card Picks

It's been a while ,but I'm back. Between my other two blogs Toy Break , 5 Points And Proud , and a new toy forum I've recently started, baseball cards have taken a back seat.Actually, they're pretty much in the trunk of the proverbial car. I've come to the realization that I just don't have the  time or money to take on full blown card collecting again.I thought card collecting would be a little easier on the pockets than action figure collecting but when you factor in rising pack prices , protective sheets, sleeves, top loaders and the 10 dollar monthly price guide fee, things can get spendy. So I figure to snap pics of cards that are already In my collection as well as other misc. memorabilia I may have lying around ,with the occasional single sprinkled in between.Today we take a look at the bare hand bandit,Kevin Mitchell.Besides the iconic base hit to keep the inning going In the 86 series for the Mets, most of my Mitchell memories are from his playing days In San Francisco.I remember an interview where he was asked about another player and Mitchell's reply was  somewhere along the lines of "I don't even watch baseball when I'm at home. I don't know who half these guys are out there.I just come here to play the game and then leave at the end of the day."

1987 Topps -One of my all time favorite cards

Singles Only

Here are my latest pick ups.A couple of Conforto's and a Jacob DeGrom, all from the 2016 Donruss release.I don't mind the Donruss Panini product. In fact I like It.Their inserts are fun ,baseball player related and won't feature Bud Seligs pet hamster  or some old lady throwing  a 2 mile per hour first pitch a la Topps flagship. It's heart warming and all but I think there's a place for cards like that, and that place Isn't In my  collection.I'll be going over some more Panini Donruss 2016  once I get the must haves from the set ( mostly Mets and some pc guys)out of the way.

I'm glad Panini decided to stay with the same Rated Rookie logo and not try and switch up the font on It.Same for The Rookies logo.I love that old school touch on cards of new school players! I'm still not 100% sold on Conforto but I know the kid's got talent.I can't wait to see the kind of numbers he puts up given a whole year to show what he can do.He kind of gives off the same vibes Jefferies did when he first came into the league and onto the Mets In '88 -' 89.

These homage to '82 Donruss inserts aren't horrible but could have been perfect had they shrunken the Donruss logo and '16 on the right hand corner.I love this card mostly because It shows DeGrom batting. A combined 23 -14 over his first two Major League seasons ,DeGrom looks to improve on that In 2016.

I Really Do Like Topps 2016,Or Am I A Glutton...?

I am somewhat of a glutton for punishment. While I like 2016 Topps design this year ,I know my views will suffer because of It,but what are you gonna do?Oh,and sorry about all the profanity In my last post.I really lost It over that darned check engine light and while I've gotten It looked at again and remedied,I'm still skeptical.Let's give It another 60 miles and see what happens then.I will say that typing up that post really helped   me channel and purge some of that frustration. One of the upsides to blogging I guess.Plus hearing other peoples vehicular  horror stories made me feel not so alone anymore. So thanks guys ;) All right,on to the subject matter. I've since picked up a couple of 2016 Topps rack packs and pulled some o.k. cards.

I'm no super fan of Lawrie ,but I do like this card, though. For a minute there I thought I was looking at Jay Payton.

Pence Is becoming one of my all time favorites.I heard he also guest starred In the new
"Fuller House "  series on Netflix. The kids watch It.O.k. so do I.

My man Altuve!

The big Calhoun-a was a beast last year.Good enough to earn the Topps trademark "Future Stars" header!

I'm glad I pulled this Bird RC.I would have picked one up anyways on eBay had I failed to find one In a pack.I liked what I saw from him last year.It was cool to see he and Conforto go at It In the subway series. Unfortunately,Bird  injured himself during the off season, not sure how or what he did to himself, but I know he's sidelined for the season. That sucks cuz I really wanted to see what he was going to do this year.

These two need no introduction.I love Pujols but I have this real bad feeling that he'll be bitten with the PED bug.

While the base design has received  lukewarm  reviews, the Perspectives inserts seem to be a hit. This Is a case for backgrounds not being blurred out. It's nice to see the obstacle In Howards way as he's inches away from making a great grab over the furled tarp!

Ending this post off on a "good-en" note,"doctors" orders...
