Two guys that I've been keeping an eye on this year are Toronto's Kevin Pillar (OF) and Baltimore's Jimmy Paredes (DH,Third Base,RF). It turns out Jimmy Paredes Is NOT related to ex - Expo Johnny Paredes. And If he Is, I haven't read It anywhere.Even still ,Paredes Is a great baseball name and the fact that he's put up decent numbers thus far ( .299/10/39) as a part timer In Baltimore has him on my want list.At 26 ,Paredes has already had MLB stints with Houston and KC ,ultimately landing In Baltimore.
Pillar has hit his stride In Toronto and coincidentally on my Fantasy Baseball team as well.He always seems to be In the mix of things, wreaking havoc with the bat and on the base paths along side Blue Jay's teammate Jose Reyes.Currently,he's at .278/7/37 with 13 steals. Not too shabby.Oh yeah, and take a look at the leftover tape residue on Pillar's top loader, yuk! Those of you who don't know what I'm talking about need only click here Pull Tab Awareness .You've been warned!
Pillar has also probably made two of the better catches in the outfield this year.
ReplyDeleteThe Orioles have done a nice job the last few years of getting good numbers from guys who either seemed washed up or failed prospects. Two former Pirates come to mind with Steve Pearce and Nate Mclouth.
