FY & RC's (A)

I've got a couple boxes of star cards    that I deemed slab worthy,alphabetically ordered  by last name .Some of those stars also have a corresponding rookie or first year cards to go along with their veteran cards.I'll be posting those here sporadically ,starting with those players  who's last names start with the letter A. Ready?Begin....


                     I thought I had more A's than this?Actually I do, just not slabbed.

Tragic what happened to Adenhart :(  This card will always be iconic to me.

Collecting Football Cards Again,Thanks to Dallas!

I hadn't been watching much football,up until a couple of weeks ago when I got my first glance at the new look Dallas Cowboys.Dak Prescott and Ezekial Elliott are beasts!I've gotten the warm fuzzies the last two games I've watched them play .I haven't gotten those warm fuzzies since Emmitt and Aikman.Dak and Ezekial have me watching again.Yeah my Bills have been semi-entertaining this year and things are looking up with Watkins and McCoy coming back this Sunday.But man,when was the last time you saw two rookies jettison a team into first place the way Prescott and Elliott have.It's pretty damn impressive.Impressive enough to make me want to buy football cards again!I really want those Elliott and Prescott Rated Rookie cards  and last night was my first attempt at It.I picked up three value packs but failed to pull any Elliot's or Prescott's.The hunt  begins!



Remember when I poked fun at this card design?Saying how we should be glad that Topps card designs weren't nearly as bad as 1990 Donruss baseball?

Seems like Donruss got offended and released a similar design for their 2016 NFL product,only this time with a little flair!

The base cards are much like that of  90's Donruss design with the confetti like specks ,only now they pretty much surround the entire card.The card borders reflect the team colors and the foil used for the players position and team affiliation really make the cards pop.Like most cards today,they have that glossy finish and also smell great out of the wrapper :)

  

Base rc's look the same only with the rc logo. 

I'm not sure what's so different about the Press Proof cards besides the fact that they scream Press Proof across the bottom of the card.I don't see any serial numbers or  print run on them.

These are my favorite. Donruss decided to go with the 87 styled borders  for their Rated Rookie's only this time you get footballs instead of baseballs on the left and right hand sides of the card. Also,It seems all RR's in this set have  the same ,silver/gray border.I think they look pretty awesome.

Again,these are identical to the RR's above only with Press Proof written across the bottom.

I'm not big on baseball card inserts that feature anything but a baseball player on them,but I can get behind this.This Is football so I'm not gonna get a card of some scrawny 90 year old lady throwing out a first pitch.The borders are gold foil .   

I always like the way Panini sneaks veteran stars and hall of flamers onto their base card design.It seems like 1992 again when you pull a Barry Sanders card that doesn't give any telltale signs of It being a commemorative card.  

Yeah,I'll continue to pick up 16 Donruss  on the strength of the Elliott and Prescott rookie cards .But something tells me I'll be more than happy with the collateral damage .

I recently got these two Thor cards  In the mail.That's only the third Bunt card to make It into my collection since their release. I've slept on them big time.

I won't bash Panini for their chrome product .In fact I appreciate the effort.They may have swung and missed but at least they're swinging.

Below are the rest of my Syndergaards. With Familia struggling a bit later In the season,I always wondered what a Syndergaard ninth would look like.

Skybox Marvel Masterpieces

I  recently received an action figure trade package In the mail,and within It were these cool Marvel trading cards!I've been wanting to dabble In Marvel comic book related  trading cards for some time now so this Is a good way to get that ball rolling.As far as baseball cards go,well,that ball Is somewhat deflated.Worst than the football Tom Brady tossed around during that AFC championship game. The only product I've been wanting to lay into was the new Bunt stuff but It seems they are not exclusive to Wal Mart.I'm pretty sure Target has them but I'm really not in the mood to clash or rub shoulders with the artsy ,fartsy and  trendy types that frequent their premises.I did find some 16 Topps Update at Wal Mart but passed on them.So I figured why not just show off  some of these   cool  2008 series 2 Skybox Marvel Masterpieces!

This card reminds me of the fight between Nolan Ryan and Robin Ventura

Met Killers I Don't Hate - Madison Bumgarner

Forgive me my fellow Met fans ,but I just can't bash Bumgarner or the Giants for that matter.They got the best of  us and I'm not disappointed because It was at the hands of  a pitcher I don't hate.O.K. I'm disappointed  we didn't move on to the next round,but I've healed surprisingly well.I caught the game last night with my dad and we both dreaded a Familia ninth ,knowing how shaky he has been recently.We kind of saw It coming.It sucks too because I really like Familia ,and I had to put up with my dad cursing him out and verbally abusing him up until I walked out of the front door shortly after he blew the hold. Familia doesn't convince my dad .I ,on the other hand,love the guy.He can't save them all and let's face It,without him,we wouldn't have played In that Wildcard game.Anybody could have given up those three runs and  we were never going to match It.Not with Bumgarner on the mound.He's so fearless out there on the mound.A kind of fearlessness that evokes fear.But he's all business.No frills.Hats off to my Metsies for surprising the league and making It this far with the makeshift squad they had going Into that game.But hats off to the Giants as well.It'll be Basketball season before any of them catch up to Syndergaards fastball ,lol.But seriously,they played a heck of a game.As for Bumgarner?I don't hate the guy.He Is a consummate professional.
