One of my favorite things to do as an adult collector of childhood ephemera is to enjoy the ads within. Sports card ads, especially! You don't see this anymore. At least, not like before. Here are a couple of ads that came out of a Marvel 1992 June issue of Wonder Man.
Good times!
Love ads in old periodicals. Although I'm partial to the '70s and '80s ads.
ReplyDeleteThey take you back sometimes even more than the subject material.
DeleteI haven't opened up many comic books in my lifetime... so I haven't seen too many card advertisements inside of them. But I do remember seeing that Fleer Ultra ad in a magazine (maybe Tuff Stuff or Beckett). Speaking of 1992 Fleer Ultra... I was obsessed with that product. Built the master set back in the early 90's... with the exception of the Gwynn autographs.
ReplyDeleteIt was shortly after 92 that I quit collecting cards but I remember buying a few packs of Fleer Ultra and loving the quality. Hated the price, though.
DeleteGreat post! I wouldn't cut these ads out of old comics but they sure would look great in a set binder.
ReplyDeleteThanks, bbcardz. Your more than welcome to print these out and add them to your personal collection 😉
