Night Owl Covers All The Bases!

A little while ago,Night Owl dropped a post on some 2015 Topps Update he had just acquired. The Syndergaard and Matz rc's really caught my eye as I had no idea they would be featured In the set.I haven't been In pack buying mode lately,so I figured why not cherry pick on Ebay or try to acquire the Syndi and Matz through a trade.Night Owls next post touched on   World Series night games , and how a collection of World Series night game cards was In order.I just so happened to have what he was looking for as well as some cards on his want list,so an E-Mail was sent and a trade initiated.Night Owl covered all the bases , sending me the meat and potatoes part of the trade (Syndergaard and Matz),as well as some other much needed cards on my want list.

I love  It when bloggers take the extra time to add little thank you notes to their trade packages. It's something I rarely do.Shame on me.The face card was totally unexpected but a welcomed addition.A Mets fan can never have too many Degroms In his/her collection.

Now this was the card I drooled a little bit over when catching a glimpse of It on N.O. blog.My first thoughts were - "Man, now I gotta go see If our local Wal Mart has any '15 Update stocked because I desperately need that Syndergaard!" My second thoughts were - "Man, now I gotta leave the house just to go see If our local Wal Mart has any '15 Update stocked because I desperately need that Syndergaard!" My third thoughts were "Fuck that,I'm not going anywhere I'll just Email Night Owl and see If we can work out a trade or something". Next thing you know-"BAM!"

The Boy Wonder ,Steven Matz!

I don't have alot of contemporary stuff,so anything from 2010 to 2013 Is pretty much non existent In my collection.Hence the appreciation of this awesome Panini Hometown Heroes Puig rc!

While I'm not crazy about the original Topps Rookie Cup design,I welcome any of  Dee Gordon's  baseball cards Into my collection .I hope to one day see him leading off for the NY Mets.

1988 Topps Jose Canseco! This was the card that started It all.1988 marked the beginning of my baseball card collecting ways. This was the card that lit the fuse.So anybody out there holding onto a surplus of this particular card, let me know!I will gladly take them off your hands.

Another card on my want list, this 89 Topps Jefferies Is a personal favorite of mine. It's just a great looking card and one I wouldn't mind having multiples of either.

A new Yadi!By far my favorite Catcher with Salvy Perez coming In 2nd.I'd love for  Molina to come over and platoon with Darnaud at some point In his career.Could you imagine how much more dangerous Degrom ,Syndergaard and Harvey would be with this guy sitting behind the plate?!?

Night Owl must have read my catcher collection post as he threw In a couple of  gems ,especially the Mayne.

WHEN I SAY ROOKIE,YOU SAY CUP-"ROOKIE!CUP!ROOKIE...."

Thanks again for the trade N.O.Now I don't feel as obligated to go out and get any Update ;)

Trade With Dan From IT's Like Having My Own Card Shop!

A little while ago I made It known to Dan from It's Like Having My Own Card Shop that I had some of the  cards on his want list ,and If he wanted to work out a trade. He obliged and a trade went down!Dan sent me some great Mets cards,of both current and past greats. He also sent me cards of Wright and Reyes that I didn't have ,so that was awesome. Thanks again Dan.I saved the best card for last,so enjoy the pics and thanks for checking In ;)

These Piece Of History UD cards are really nice, and a brand I overlooked.

Love these Reyes cards!

It doesn't get any better than a chromed out David Wright Home Run Derby card!

These pics don't do these next couple of cards justice. Fleer Gamers pop both on the front and back. It's a bling fest!

Alou was the quintessential professional who never gave an AB away. But more importantly,he didn't wear batting gloves.

I always likened Beltran to McReynolds because of their quiet demeanor's.

Bobby Bo always had a smile on his face.Even when he wasn't smiling.

I know Wally's a bit over the top,and that's putting It lightly. But I would love to see him manage the Mets one day. That would be must see TV!

McDowell RC!

Having this inaugural  Mets  Mgr. card of  Davey Johnson Is pretty damn cool.In fact I'm thinking of starting a Mets album, and this will be card number 1.

Mail Time!

A few posts ago,I wrote about my cousin who came down to visit from out of state.Well, before his departure,he told me that he'd be sending me a package of cards he's had since childhood. That package arrived today as well as a small padded envelope from Dan over at It's Like Having My Own Card Shop, from a trade we recently completed.Expect posts on both once I get everything sorted. Both packages should be Met heavy as my cousin was a big Mets fan and Dan was given the ups about my collecting interests.Whatever's lurking Inside will be much appreciated and looked after accordingly here at the Pub!

Love the Spider-Man box ,E!

Trade With Baseball Card Breakdown

Shout out to Gavin from Baseball Card Breakdown for sending some Met awesomeness my way. The fact that I received It on Valentines day shows that you really care.Seriously, though, great stuff here and I'll start things off with a little J Rey.I loved Jose Reyes as a Met and when we failed to re-sign him ,It was kind of a bummer.Up until that point I had amassed a nice little collection of Reyes cards but stopped collecting his stuff  when he became a Marlin.I've made It a collecting goal of sorts to pick up his Marlins and Jays cards now, and Gavin has helped me get that ball rolling with these beauties. The Upper Deck Ovation (always liked this design) and X-ponential cards I hadn't picked up yet.I'm loving the '14 Topps card as a Marlin  and  the Triple Play  sticker as well.

Todd Hundley. Switch hitting catcher who rakes In all of my  late 90's PS1 Baseball video games,Is a welcomed addition to my Met collection.Check out the interesting factoid on the back of the card, underneath his stat lines.Piazza made that a moot point In 1998.

I loved Darren Oliver In '06 coming out of the bullpen. He was a crafty lefty and I wish we would have given him one more season.Just a solid pitcher.

Elvis wasn't the only Presley to leave the building.Poor Kirk never did get beamed up.Where's Scotty when ya need em'!

Next we have a couple of Met oldies but goodies. Gooden,Hernandez and Koosman. The Hernandez card looks like he's lighting a dynamite fuse. The Koosman card will go to my dad. He's always clamoring on about the 69 Mets and how good they were,so I'll be placing this baby on his dresser so he can see It everyday when he wakes and before he goes to sleep. You wanted '69 Mets you got em.

I'm super excited about these Flores cards as I have a few of his early, prospect cards, but not many of his ,more recent ,Mets stuff.

I'm actively collecting d'Arnaud  so Gavin hooked It up with a Gypsy Queen RC that I'm really diggin'!He also threw In a base 2014 Donruss RC which I have already,so If anybody Is interested ,drop me an e-mail.

Any Mets prospects after 2008 are non existent In my collection so being able to add a Plaweckie  (currently rated number 2  Met prospect),Puello,Vaughn and Ramos to the collection Is an enormous plus.

This was a much needed Canseco as most of the cards I have of Jose are of the  Oakland Athletics variety.Yes,I collect Canseco.I hope you guys can find It In your heart to forgive me,lol.

Finally,I've saved the best for last!Gavin must have read my mind because I never told him that I've been tirelessly hunting down a 1989 Topps slightly green parallel 1/1 Mookie Wilson for the better part of my adult life now.I must admit to clenching my chest and my left arm numbing a little upon finding this gem of a Mookie card nestled in between  '97 Bowman cards of Corey Erickson and Brett Herbison.I'm speechless, literally because i'm typing and not talking. Gavin,I loved everything buddy and hope that what I've sent you will  also be well received.Thank you :)
