Singles Only

Although this Is supposed to be  an NFL exclusive Singles Only  post,I snuck  Moncada In there last minute since It was the only baseball single I've picked up In a while. On to the cards...

Remember  a while back ,I set out to try and pull a 2016 Donruss Ezekiel Elliott by way of pack ripping ?Well I failed miserably at that and have had this card (and others like It)In my ebay watch list forever It seems .Every time I'd go to bid on this, It would jump up beyond the 10 dollar range,a price I wasn't willing to pay for a card that I could possibly still   pull in a pack.Luckily,I was able to snag this one up for about  $5 and some change shipped.I actually liked the base over the Optic, but I can't complain.

Shortly after winning the Optic auction,I stumbled upon this Panini Rookies and Stars listing. I think there were but seconds left when I entered my $2 winning bid.Not bad considering most of his rookie cards are selling for $5 and up.So that brings my Elliott card total to three now, including his Leaf Draft card that I picked up around Super Bowl time, when Zekes and Dak mania was running rampant.

Moncada might as well be an NFLer .He sure looks like one. Apparently he's  off to a good start in the White Sox minor league system,AAA I believe. Moncada projects to be a bigger version of Jose Jose  Altuve. Only time will tell.

Singles Only

I finally got around to adding Zekes and Dak to my small but growing football card player collections. They aren't the Donruss  Rated Rookies I've been on the hunt for ,but will do for now.In fact these are the cheapest Elliott and Prescott rookie cards   you'll find In most places including eBay.Both go for about 3 bucks a piece. Both cards are pretty bland representations of  the two Dallas Cowboys phenoms.
I don't mind them In their college unis but I'd much rather have them In their Cowboys gear.

On The Hunt For Dak & Ezekial

I'm still trying to pull 2016 Rated Rookie cards of  Dak Prescott and Ezekial Elliott.I don't have a disposable income that would allow me to achieve this with a simple box break.I go the route I went as a kid  ,buying packs here and there. To me the reward is even bigger because of the odds. Ebay will be my last resort. The other day while out picking up some pet supplies for our new German Shepherd pup  ,I stumbled across the last two packs of 2016 Donruss and one straggling 52 card pack of Score football. No Dak or Ezekial, but a nice sneak peak at Score and some ok Donruss 2016 cards.

I haven't picked up a pack of Score anything since  1989 ,when It was only couple years old.And that was baseball. Their NFL cards have been out for a while now but this Is my first pack. They're decent looking cards  that get the limited foil treatment, but limited ca be a good thing. In this case It's just a couple of subtle lines above and underneath the players name, team and position.

Score wouldn't be Score without the player photo on the backside ,even If It's the same as the pic on the front.

Dang!I thought Karlos Williams would play a part In the Bills future running game, maybe even become their primary back. He's  been released by the Bills picked up by the Raiders and Is now serving a suspension.

The lil meanie Suh  :(

RC's feature players In their college get ups.

A couple of nice inserts.

This time around the Donruss packs yielded a little less than the first three I picked up a while back.I really dig the Bo Jackson, though.Such a nice card.Love the grey and black.

Collecting Football Cards Again,Thanks to Dallas!

I hadn't been watching much football,up until a couple of weeks ago when I got my first glance at the new look Dallas Cowboys.Dak Prescott and Ezekial Elliott are beasts!I've gotten the warm fuzzies the last two games I've watched them play .I haven't gotten those warm fuzzies since Emmitt and Aikman.Dak and Ezekial have me watching again.Yeah my Bills have been semi-entertaining this year and things are looking up with Watkins and McCoy coming back this Sunday. But man, when was the last time you saw two rookies jettison a team into first place the way Prescott and Elliott have. It's pretty damn impressive.Impressive enough to make me want to buy football cards again!I really want those Elliott and Prescott Rated Rookie cards  and last night was my first attempt at It.I picked up three value packs but failed to pull any Elliot's or Prescott's.The hunt  begins!

Remember when I poked fun at this card design?Saying how we should be glad that Topps card designs weren't nearly as bad as 1990 Donruss baseball?

Seems like Donruss got offended and released a similar design for their 2016 NFL product, only this time with a little flair!

The base cards are much like that of  90's Donruss design with the confetti like specks ,only now they pretty much surround the entire card. The card borders reflect the team colors and the foil used for the players position and team affiliation really make the cards pop.Like most cards today, they have that glossy finish and also smell great out of the wrapper :)

Base rc's look the same only with the rc logo.

I'm not sure what's so different about the Press Proof cards besides the fact that they scream Press Proof across the bottom of the card.I don't see any serial numbers or  print run on them.

These are my favorite. Donruss decided to go with the 87 styled borders  for their Rated Rookie's only this time you get footballs instead of baseballs on the left and right hand sides of the card. Also,It seems all RR's in this set have  the same ,silver/gray border.I think they look pretty awesome.

Again, these are identical to the RR's above only with Press Proof written across the bottom.

I'm not big on baseball card inserts that feature anything but a baseball player on them, but I can get behind this. This Is football so I'm not gonna get a card of some scrawny 90 year old lady throwing out a first pitch. The borders are gold foil .

I always like the way Panini sneaks veteran stars and hall of flamers onto their base card design. It seems like 1992 again when you pull a Barry Sanders card that doesn't give any telltale signs of It being a commemorative card.

Yeah,I'll continue to pick up 16 Donruss  on the strength of the Elliott and Prescott rookie cards .But something tells me I'll be more than happy with the collateral damage .

Singles Only

Sorry about the lack of activity at the Pub.I've been spending way too much time playing with action figures over on my other blog Toy Break. Transformers Mashers can be very distracting :) Anyways, funny thing happened after I won this two card Bills lot for 3 bucks shipped on eBay. I never received them! The seller was extremely cool about It and gave me a full refund.Well,17 days later and the cards arrived, lol!I felt bad and messaged the seller and told him I could ship the cards back or re-purchase  them. He opted for the latter and everything worked out In the end.Plus,I used to have this Reed as a kid so I wasn't about to ship that puppy back. Both cards came In great condition and I'm glad to be able to add them to my small but growing Buffalo Bills collection.

Singles Only (Hey Yo Bo Knows This,And Bo Knows That....)

I had a ton of 1988 and 1989  Topps Football cards growing up,and one of my favorite cards  was this Bo Jackson.I always thought this was his rookie card back then, never knowing he had an 88 Topps Super Rookie. It's nice to be able to hop online and cherry pick iconic cards from my childhood ,especially when most are dirt cheap.Granted ,It's not the same as the instant gratification of finding that childhood favorite in the display case of a card shop and being able to bring It home with you that same day.Unfortunately I don't get out to those shops anymore,so in the end,It's eBay that fuels these "Singles Only" posts. While It's Jackson's RC that I really want, this one has more  significance. The ball tucked nicely In his right arm, left arm about to come down and secure It and a "I'm not gonna find an opening,I'm just gonna run right through you.." look  on Jackson's  face   make this card a Fav 9 contender.

New Thurman Thomas Pick Ups

These are a few of a lot of about 30 Thomas cards I recently won  on eBay.Nothing flashy, just a bunch of 90's goodness :)I don't have a scanner like most of you guys out there, and taking individual pics of cards can be tedious,so Thurman Thomas posts will be sparsely published.I recently set a goal of filling up a small album with  Thurman Thomas cards before the summer of 2016,but since I don't double up cards in the pocket ,my goal Is pretty much complete.Only a few cards short of filling her up.

The first two are a couple of nice second year Thomas cards. Many hate the 1990 Topps design but I love It!

The red, white and blue pop on both of these awesome   portraits of  Therminator.
